When I start work at ABC, it'll be in the same tiny, one-man office once used by the guy pictured above.
When Bob Woodruff joined ABC News, he was the NewsOne Correspondent based in Chicago. The exact same job I'm taking over on Monday. I'll have his same old desk.
I just finished reading the book he co-wrote (with his wife) about the explosion in Iraq that nearly killed him. In it, his wife Lee talks about their move to Chicago.
She writes, "I liked Chicago and warmed to its blue-collar swagger, it's meat-packing feel, and its glittery Miracle Mile. I loved its little neighborhoods and the blues and jazz clubs where cultures seemed to meld."
I couldn't agree more... and I can only hope I eventually enjoy the same success as the man who previously held my job.
