Today, the fourth stormy Friday in a row, has brought a brutal cold front into the area, but with only a light dusting of 1-2 inches of snow.
More snow is expected to fall over the weekend, with totals of 6-7 inches predicted for the metro area. The San Juan Mountains near Durango are receiving very heavy snow, up to 30 inches. The central mountains around Aspen and Vail could receive up to 8 inches. And high winds are causing problems in northwest Colorado around Steamboat Springs.
However, the overnight temperatures dipped very close to zero and aren't expected to make it out of the single digits today. The National Weather Service predicts a high of only 9 degrees for the metro area today.
Overnight temperatures will easily drop to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below.
