Ok, so we had a big avalanche here. It buried two car loads of people on Berthoud Pass. YES... that is a big deal. But why did the national media FREAK OUT about it? Maybe because nothing else was going on Saturday. But if you watched Fox News or CNN over the weekend... no doubt... you saw non-stop coverage of the slide. Even after it became perfectly clear that no one was seriously hurt, and no one else was trapped... they kept going and going and going.
I know New York City doesn't get avalanches very often. But you national media people need to get out of the big city once in awhile. There are more than 2,000 avalanches in Colorado every year. More people die in Colorado avalanches than in any other state (or pretty much any other country). They're real, they happen... BUT THEY'RE NOTHING TO FREAK OUT ABOUT!
