Can't believe I forgot to tell this story! I saw my first blackbear-- up close-- the other day. We were in Loveland, where a bear had roamed into town, and was hanging out in a tree behind a business. We stood right under the tree, just a few feet from the bear, shooting video and talking to neighbors. He was up there eating, napping, and relieving himself. They saw he was about a year old, and about 100 pounds. He was stocking up on food. This time of year, bears devour about 20,000 calories a day... storing energy so they can hibernate for the winter. It was really cool!
